Chivahn's Adventure Time Birthday!!!

I'm Breakfast Princess (who is really just an ancillary character, but awesome nonetheless), and Chev is Princess Bubblegum, of course.

HI! I am an idiot XD
Here, you can see my fancy egg boot decorations that my wonderful Gramma made (she made my pancake skirt, too! <3)
Ryan is some alternate universe Finn, Stef is Marceline :D :D (photo by Jessica L Drake)

PB, Joe as Fionna from the genderswap episode, me as drunk.

Relaxing with Rue in Ryan and Stef's infamous ballpit XD
Yep, best party ever. Ain't no party like a Red Duplex party, 'cause at a Red Duplex party, costumes are MANDATORY.

Can't resist a 30 Rock reference.

And since today is your ACTUAL birthday, happy birthday, Chev! And happy birthday to Miss Joe, as well!

Seattle Pride Parade 2012!

Soooooo, you guys. PLEASE remind me why this was my first year ever attending Pride? BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW. I had an absolute blast! I'd been meaning to go for about a decade, and was even almost out the door for it in 2010, but something always managed to get in my way! However, this year I was absolutely determined to go, as I was invited to walk with the Unicorns From Beyond the Garden of Hedon. I planned everything out weeks in advance because I was NOT going to miss it again for anything! DO YOU GUYS HEAR ME?! *fist-shaking, grumbling*

In lieu of Shoes-day Tuesday, I'm gonna overload your browser with sexy unicorns and rainbows. Enjoy!

First off, can we TALK about Chev's bustle? This thing was awe-inspiring, and her whole costume was custom-made by Stefanie of Idolatre Clothing Co (seen to the side with the purple hair). GORGEOUS! (source: Chev)
Here's me before the parade, trying to document my makeup :3 (source: me)
Morgue Anne, Chev, yours truly, and Ronnie. (source: Miss Christy)
In position, waiting to start walking (lolz at my bitchface).
A closer look at Stef's gorgeous handmade headpiece.
Amy with Gay Batman right after he accidentally rollerbladed over Chev's bustle. HA!
If you look closely, you can see me picking trash out of Chev's bustle.
Yay!
Best costume ever. (source: Seattle PI)
Lovely ladies yaaaaayyyy!
Stef and Chev. D'awwww.
Me and Victoria at Seattle Center after the Parade. I'm missing my cue here to do a dramatic unicorn pose. I am super oblivious to all of the things -_-

These photos are all taken from everywhere, so if you took any of these, feel free to let me know and I'll credit you :D

You'd best believe I'm going all out next year! I CAN'T WAIT!

Bre's Week In Links 3-30-12

Liz Lemon is my spirit animal (source)

Gotta start it off with this, Chev showed it to me while we were vending at Mourning Market last Sunday. Dancing Alone To Pony.

Another flat iron curls technique. I wanna try this.

GAHHHH I LOVE HOUSE OF TURQUOISE! I always want every damn house!

Chloe's at it again. This place rules.

These cartoon-style bags are so neat! I'd totally rock one of these!

Black, white and color interior design! AHHHH MADE FOR ME.

AN ANCHORMAN SEQUEL IS IN THE WORKS HOLYHELLMYLIFE. I'm not an advocate of sequels (AT ALL), but this is going to be amazing, you guys!

In love with every photo in this post.

So, I never even got to post about Mourning Market or anything! Gah! I've been a bundle of nerves what with starting counseling (super duper stress management, nothing to worry about) and job interviews(!). Hopefully I'll be among the working class again within a few weeks (even if only part-time)! Anyhow, MM was pretty good. It's always loads of fun, but this show was pretty slow compared to the others. Still, had an awesome time. Got a quick shot of the Toxic Heart booth:

Afterward, Chivahn and I went out for dinner and drinks with some of her friends at this great little mexican joint in Greenwood called El Chupacabra. Their boozy Arnold Palmer is to die for!

Other than that, I've got a few leftover crochet bows up in my Etsy shop, and I'm thinking about making some of my signature slouchy hats in a few different colors, if there's interest. Here's a shot of the back (where all the detail is):

Love it! I pretty much never take it off!
Lemme know if you guys like it so I can get with the mass-producing! Hope you guys have a great weekend!

xoxo,
Bre

TREAT YO' SELF!!!

So this last weekend I was finally able to get away for a moment to have my bestest friend Chivahn fix my lifeless, graying hair (oh, the stress as of late...). I usually have her do something a tad crazy, last time we did a bob with tiny turquoise bangs, but this time I needed something a bit more low-key. I was loving the ombre trend I'd seen among a few celebs (plus the idea of a highlight-esque effect that didn't need touching up REALLY appealed to me), so we did a super toned-down version and tried some loose curls for shits and giggles:

Dork :P
I love it sooooo much. My self esteem really needed a boost, and this definitely did it! If you're in the greater Seattle area, I HIGHLY recommend you go see her, she's the master! Check her out: Fuchsia Phoenix Hair Design (and hey! You may remember that I did the site design!)

Happy Halloweeeeeen!

Ours was pretty good, not too eventful, just got dressed up and headed to the mall for a minute, then left when we started to feel awkward soliciting for candy for a kid who isn't even a year old. Ha! It was fun though! Jade's first Halloween! YAAAAYYY!!!

I was SO surprised Jade tolerated this costume! I thought he was gonna put up a serious fight!

More Sugarpill :P

Finally finished my dress Saturday night, but ran out of fringe! Oh well, it still looks pretty awesome :D
How was your Halloween?

Adventures in Northernmost Seattle...

Yesterday was much-needed. A last hurrah before starting school back up full time, if you will. Chivahn, Jade and I had a little adventure in Ballard and Northgate doing a bit of shopping. We hit up Goodwill, where I snatched up a TON of frames and these magical Peter vs. Giant Chicken figurines:

Five bucks! SCORE!
Had lunch at the Red Robin at Northgate mall. This was actually Jade's first restaurant outing and he was so stoked about it, he kept yelling (gleefully!). I'm sure we disturbed more than a few people, but at least he wasn't crying, right? Heh!

Dropped into Ross and Target real quicklike, grabbed up another clearance frame and a pencil skirt. Also a dress that I have to return. Bah! Northgate isn't exactly close to me!

Now I have to think about getting back into the swing of my classes! This quarter things are stepping up a bit and we're going to actually start doing coding, so I have three classes instead of four. A little scary, even though I did really well last quarter with a GPA of 3.6. Proud? Proud.

And HEY! My Safeway finally has my other crack in stock (my original crack is, of course, Monster)! I've been stalking the dairy aisle for the past few weeks looking for this and they finally had it on Sunday! Woohoo!

OH MY GOD YUM.
Did you guys do anything fancy this weekend?

xoxo,
Bre!

Todaaayyyyy...

Super looking forward to this afternoon. One of my best friends, Chivahn, works insane 12 hour days in her salon, so occasionally I drive to her adorable little place in Fremont (near Queen Anne in Seattle) and help her out with housework and organize all her stuff. It may sound crazy, but I really, really enjoy this. I love my boy with all my heart, but sometimes mama needs a break. It may seem even MORE crazy that I spend the majority of these "breaks" cleaning someone else's house, but, like I said yesterday, I am the epitome of a Virgo. Cleaning, sorting, organizing and putting stuff away is total zen time for Bre. Not to mention the drive is usually pretty relaxing if I don't hit any traffic, and I usually don't because I like to get there early. Today I might get stuck on I-5 because I have to wait until Terry wakes up this afternoon so he can watch Jade :/ This needs some explanation...

My fiance, Terry, is on this crazy-ass rotating schedule at his job. He works Monday and Tuesday, has Wednesday and Thursday off, then works Friday-Tuesday, gets Wednesday-Sunday off, and the cycle starts again. Ridiculous, right? It gets worse. Not only is every single shift 12 HOURS, but every two months he swaps shifts between day shift and graveyard. It. Is. Awful. He's on graveyard right now, which naturally means he sleeps all day. So if I want to do anything by myself during the day (and it's not the weekend when my mom can hang out with Jade), I really can't. I have to wait until Terry wakes up anywhere from 3-5pm. The only good part of this schedule of gnarliness is that he gets 5 days off in a row every two weeks (which he's in right now), so Jade can spend an extended amount of time hanging out with his dad. Not so much on graveyard shift, though. It's heartbreaking when we wake up at 7am, Terry walks in the door at 7:30-ish and pretty much has to go right to bed. I'm definitely grateful for his job, it has landed us in this amazing new apartment, kept us fed and warm and overall pretty comfortable, but it's still pretty rough at the same time! We all miss each other quite a bit.

So, now you can probably see why I look so forward to getting out of the house as little as I do, heh! Our schedules are just... insane, and barely line up with anyone else we know, so ANY sort of me time or friend time is welcomed with open arms.

Do you guys deal with ass-backwards schedules? How do you cope?

xoxo, Bre

Mourning Market/Moving (i.e. hiatus!)

Just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that Mourning Market was loads of fun. I'm entirely too stoked for the event to find a fantastic new venue (Motor is closing :c) and to possibly vend some of my stuff next time! Got a slew of new ideas for stuff, it was pretty inspiring!

Our view all afternoon <3
Here is a Chev peddling her fancy wares! Of course I had to get glare from the ONE window in that place, ha!

Oh, and remember that "Love At First Sight" post featuring Fable & Fury a few weeks back? I totally grabbed up that John Waters necklace! Ahhhh I love it so much! They're super sweet people, as well!

The other half of this post is to explain that not only am I going to be too busy moving this week to put together any of my weekly features (as I type this I'm taking frequent breaks to drag Jade away from boxes! GAH!), I'm also kinda lost as to where exactly this blog is going. So once we're all settled in our new fabulous apartment, I'm going to do a bit of overhauling on this baby. So to whoever may be reading this right now (I love you!), I'll be back, with a vengeance, hopefully in about a week!

xoxo, Bre
