Not bad, not bad at all! And for a teensy fraction of the cost! Damn! I love this sort of "hooved" construction, it's a bit more extreme-looking to me than our usual heelless fare. Still not a huge fan of the suede, but I'll give 'em an A.

I was probably the first person to seriously hate on this lucite trend that's been slowly creeping upon us for the last 6 months or so. But as the shoes rolled out, I saw some bad, some horrific, and eventually, I started to see some AWESOME. Hopefully the days of clear shoes being synonymous with bad stripper heels are on their way out, because these babies are just gorgeous! Clear elements used in shoes to mess with onlookers' perception of gravity = THE BEST.

Not bad. I loved the original look of the Lita Cap booties when I first happened upon them. These are a pretty decent dupe, the heel shape is just a tiny bit weird. I still can't stand the over-zealous use of faux suede in discount shoes, but oh well. Probably because of where I'm from. Rain will destroy suede, faux suede, what-have-you unless you blast your shoes with Scotchgard the second you get them. Super annoying :c

But! For the rest of the world, it might not be so bad, haha!

A Twitter friend pointed me to a source-less picture of them yesterday and I could NOT find them after Googling forever. Of course, they popped up immediately after I screamed for help in the Facebook shoe group I belong to. Pfffttt. I had the feeling that they were handmade, but WOW. Any plans I had to save up and buy a pair of JC Damsel Spikes this month might be conflicting with an uncontrollable urge to acquire these at this point. Yes, seriously!

Music Monday #54 - Metric

So, I'm not sure what freaking rock I've been living under, but I never got a chance to get into Metric until last week. As I listened to their entire discography, I realized I used to hear a handful of their songs when I worked at Guess from 2006-2008, but never found out the artist. Brandon, Terry and I were watching Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World on Christmas and when Brandon mentioned that the song "Black Sheep" that The Clash at Demonhead plays was originally by Metric, I was all over it. Stuck every song I had downloaded about a year prior (and apparently immediately forgot about) onto my phone and listened constantly in my car.

Have you ever been totally oblivious to a well-established band and wanted to kick yourself when you discovered them years later? Because I've done this before (hello, Human Waste Project!) and I CAN'T be the only one! PLEASE TELL ME I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE! *sob*

Mini Holiday Hiatus: Over!

Jade the Human!

Man, it's been a while. Since the 21st, I believe? I was AFK, armed only with my phone for about two weeks and I'm firmly against blogging when I'm unable to properly format posts with fancy images :P

The holidays were the best we've had in a while. First we celebrated with Terry's family in Camano Island on the 23rd. Had to talk Terry out of buying a $95 prime rib bigger than Jade for the occasion *eyeroll*

On the 24th, we trekked up to rural Granite Falls to have dinner with my dad and his whole side of the family, which was the first holiday we've had together in 10 years. It was amazing and I got some super thoughtful gifts from my dad and stepmom. Nearly brought me to tears <3

On Christmas we headed up to my grandparents house for dinner and festivities. Much hot buttered rum and Scott Pilgrim was had. Later on, Terry, my brother Brandon and I decided to head out to a bar. Which bar would anyone ever think of being open on Christmas evening? Why, a gay bar, of course! Shot some pool at Bar Myx and discovered the deliciousness of the Cactus Apple, which I'll be ordering many more of in the future.

Overall: a blasty blast all around. The only bad news of the past few weeks is that my financial aid got all screwed up (when they had like 5 months to have me correct it, but only gave me a month with a ton of holidays in it), so it's looking like I'll be dropping all my classes this quarter. HUGE bummer, but I can't really justify taking out any student loans at this point. Oh well. Either Spring quarter or Fall, I'm all over it.

Over the next week I'll share some pictures of some awesome shoes I got, but for now I just wanted to assure you guys that I'm still alive and definitely not abandoning le blawg!
